How to Create a Custom App in Salesforce?
What is a custom app?
A custom app is a collection of tabs that are customised for a specific business function, such as sales, marketing, or customer service. In this article, we will guide you through the process of creating a custom app on Salesforce.
Step 1: Design the app
The first step in creating a custom app is to design the app. You should have a clear understanding of the business process that the app will support. Start by identifying the key business processes and tasks that the app will support. You should also identify the key data objects that the app will work with, such as accounts, contacts, leads, or opportunities.
Once you have a clear understanding of the business process and data objects, you can start designing the app. You can use Salesforce's drag-and-drop interface to create a custom app layout. You can add tabs, pages, and components to the app layout to create a customised user interface.
Step 2: Add fields
The next step is to add fields to the app. Fields are the individual pieces of data that are stored in Salesforce. You can add fields to the app to capture additional information that is specific to your business process.
To add fields to the app, navigate to the Object Manager and select the object that you want to add fields to. Click on Fields & Relationships and then click on New. You can then select the type of field that you want to add and enter the field details.
Step 3: Configure permissions
The final step in creating a custom app is to configure permissions. You can control who has access to the app and what they can do with it by configuring permissions.
To configure permissions, navigate to the App Manager and select the app that you want to configure permissions for. Click on the gear icon and then click on Edit. You can then select the profiles or permission sets that you want to give access to the app and configure their permissions.
That's it:
In 3 easy to follow steps you have yourself a very powerful tool that is customised to meet the unique needs of your users and it’s never been easier. Improving functionality with custom apps helps reduce the number of clicks your user follows to input their data. You can build on custom apps with the help of Dynamic Forms to show your users the right data for them at the right time, but that’s for another article.
